Tania is a freelance copywriter in Paris. For her, Popeye was the best birthday present ever.

It's a cliché, but I'll say it anyway: Popeye is my best friend. Since I have to work from home, I spend all my days with him. We go for long walks, I talk to him, I make up songs for him, we watch movies together, we take naps together... He and I are very close. It's a good thing because Braques are dogs that are completely dependent on their owners.

I think that the lockdown has helped him a bit in this respect. Before he destroyed everything at home as soon as we left him for an hour, but in this situation, we haven't let him out of our sight for two months. I believe that he was even happy that we gave him some air when we finally got out of lockdown. He couldn't stand our constant pawing!

Having a dog changes your life for the better. People say that there are too many constraints, especially in Paris. I think the things that make you happiest in life are rarely the easiest. Ever since my boyfriend came back one evening with the tiny Popeye sticking out of his bag for my birthday, my life was turned upside down. I walk a lot more, in the forest, in the Bois de Vincennes... Right now, the three of us have just come back from a week's hike in the Cévennes. I would never have done these kinds of things before I had a dog! But to see him having fun in the middle of nature, to see him reconnect with his hunting instincts, to walk for hours with him in breathtaking landscapes... It was magical. This year, we bought a house in the countryside after the first lockdown. We said to each other that we had done it for Popeye, just kidding... Nevertheless, it's all part of the "dog lifestyle". And that's good.
