Rosalie & Stello

ph. Amedeo Abello

Rosalie adopted Stello when he could barely fit in the palm of her hand. Since then, this proud and affectionate sidekick has been making a daily appearance on stage with great success.

Cult character

"I've been a director for four years and I acted in a film for the first time last summer. Stello, a wire-haired dachshund, has been my companion since last April and probably also was an actor in another life: he still has that charm, that light, that audacity of the greatest; but also that hint of pride and gentle manipulation... which we can forgive him, as we can forgive people who move us by their authenticity. Stello is a tender and princely little creature, who also likes to sleep, to lounge around, and although he is only a few centimetres tall, he loves to take up all the space. He is a great orator without speech, a flamboyant personality without pomp, an unforgettable actor who does not need a script: he is the only one we see!”

A romantic comedy

"We talk a lot, about all kinds of things. We look at each other a lot, right in the eyes, so that we don't have to say anything. We sometimes dance, we often play! We walk every morning as if it were the first morning, we go to the sea as much as we can. Every new morning with Stello is a memory I cherish. It's crazy to be so happy to be together again after a night of sleep. It's as if every morning in the world we open up an infinite number of possibilities together! It is an enthusiasm that saves, a tenderness that reassures, a facetiousness that fuses. Laughing in the morning: isn't that the antidote to all forms of violence and stupidity?

Master of thought

"When I watch him, I learn. Stello doesn't patronise, he doesn't lie, he doesn't hide and he has a wildly expressive gaze: an eagle eye, nothing escapes him. He has this natural ability to convey so many emotions and ideas, just through his eyes. In my small humanity, his existence inspires me a lot - when he stares at me with his big eyes, everything else is simplified, de-dramatized. Because his paws are firmly planted in the ground, he helps me to focus on it too.”
