Marion & Rintan
ph. Jonathan Llense
Are cats cold? Good question ... Rintan, the sphinx of Marion Roussignol, model AND associate in an audit firm, and Wolf, who’s an English teacher, is often cold, and for good reason, he is a naked cat. But don't panic, he's a fluffy cat who could cuddle all day long and who sparks the curiosity of all the people he meets.
A cat in the throat
"- Marion had been insisting since the lockdown that we should get a sphinx, a friend of ours has one and we had fallen under the spell of the animal's distinctive personality.
-And Wolf fell for it when I took him to the breeder I had chosen. Rintan instinctively came to him and it was love at first sight!
-As for his name, pronounced "rin-tane", it's Japanese, it's a brand for throat pastils..."
A naked cat, but not without questions
"It's amazing how affectionate he is! Cuddles EVERY morning and evening, games EVERY night for hours on end! He is very curious but very dependent, he follows us everywhere, he demands a lot of attention and on top of that he is very talkative. We travel with him everywhere, by train, car, metro and people are irrevocably intrigued and ask us a thousand questions."
Naked cats and preconceived ideas
"He is already very obedient, as proof we have taught him to sit on request... Unlike many cats, he tolerates water (the toilet is compulsory!), he eats everything and loves green beans! He hates being cold and alone. As for living in a flat, the flat is warmer and more lively thanks to his presence. I feel like he brings us together even more as a couple. It's as if his human side awakens softness and affection in us."
Cultural tips:
You must discover how cats are represented in traditional Japanese prints, especially the "bakeneko", a legendary cat-monster from Japanese folklore, one of the "yōkai", supernatural creatures that populate Japanese culture.
